May is strawberry season in this region, and the new Strawberry Fest will take place on May 17 in the City’s brand new district The Artery, which runs from 31st Street on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk along the Laskin Road corridor.

As strong farming community, Virginia Beach fully embraces the farm-to-table movement. Throughout its different districts, restaurants are serving up fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in its dishes. Factor in its fresh caught seafood and it’s no wonder the resort city’s dining scene is so remarkable.

Pungo, in southern Virginia Beach, is the heart of Virginia Beach’s agricultural community. Exploring the City’s rural section makes for a fantastic road trip as part of any itinerary. Add in a delicious meal at a local restaurant, a stop at a roadside farm market and a visit to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge near Sandbridge Beach. Escaping to the City’s nature areas provide some nice downtime and fresh air.
