Dine Al Fresco with a View

outdoor dining

There are so many delicious local eateries throughout the city of the Virginia Beach, many of which offer outdoor dining, which is perfect for the months of September and October because the weather is just right – not too hot and not too cold. And in addition to sitting outside, there are also many places to enjoy a stunning view.

Rockafeller’s, located on the Rudee Inlet, was recently renovated and offers a stellar food and cocktail menu. Their happy hour is unmatched and you can make your experience even better by sitting on their upper deck and taking in their view of the inlet. Their neighbor, Rudee’s Restaurant and Cabana Bar, also features an impressive outdoor atmosphere. You can socialize at their outdoor cabana bar or feel like you’re dining on a boat by sitting at one of their rocking tables right by the water.

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in the heart of the resort area, your options are endless. Waterman’s Surfside Grille, who are famous for their orange crush, has an outdoor patio facing the beach. You’ll be so relaxed, you won’t ever want to leave! For a similar set-up but a more casual feel, try Chix on the Beach, which is just a few streets down. Ocean Eddies Seafood Restaurant is unique in that it is located on the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. The panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean are overwhelmingly serene and their atmosphere is laid-back and casual.

If you head further down Shore Drive towards the Lesner Bridge, there is a surplus of outdoor dining options with a view. Enjoy a tropical cocktail at The Back Deck and take in the views of the Chesapeake Bay. Or go to one of its surrounding restaurants like Chick’s Oyster Bar, Bubba’s Seafood Restaurant and Crabhouse and Dockside, all which offer unbeatable views of the bay.

Another must-try place is The Porch on Long Creek, which is just off Great Neck and is the best place to dine outside and catch a breathtaking sunset. Tin Cup Kitchen + Oyster Bar is located inside of the Delta Hotel by Marriott on Shore Drive and is definitely worth a visit. Sit on the beachside deck and take in stunning views while enjoying their incredible happy hour. Buoy 44 is also nestled on the sand of Chic’s Beach and has a cozy deck full of picnic tables facing the water.
