July 4 Stars & Stripes Celebration

With Virginia Beach’s robust events calendar, it’s no wonder the City is recognized as the Entertainment Capital of the East Coast. And while the high-quality events here are definitely impressive, it’s also important to note that many events are free or budget friendly.

The Virginia Beach Oceanfront takes center stage for live entertainment. From large festivals on the beach and boardwalk to intimate concerts performed on small stages and in area restaurants, the Oceanfront always has something fun happening, especially during the summer.

JUNE

On June 21-22, the Point Break Music Festival will rock the Virginia Beach Oceanfront at 5th Street on the beach. Buy tickets and come experience amazing performances by renowned reggae music artists.

For the ultimate Latin experience, catch La Fiesta Virginia Beach June 27-28 at 24th Street Park at the Oceanfront. Friday’s event (June 27) is free and open to the public. Saturday’s event (June 28) is a ticketed event, and the entertainment schedule includes Wilfrido Vargas, Puerto Rican Power and Alex Bueno.

JULY

Virginia Beach is the place to be to celebrate the 4th of July. The fun kicks off on July 3 with Totally Tribute Music Fest, a three-day festival that runs through July 5 at the Oceanfront at 17th and 31st Street Parks. Stroll down memory lane with remarkable tribute concerts celebrating the songs of The Cure, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Captain Fantastic, Def Leppard & Van Halen, Tom Petty and Earth, Wind & Fire. This event is free and open to the public.

On July 4, gather your crew and spend the evening at the July 4 Stars & Stripes Celebration. Festivities will start at 7 p.m. and take place at 17th, 24th and 31st Street Parks at the Oceanfront with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

AUGUST

On Aug. 22-23, keep summer fun going by attending the Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party on 24th Street on the beach at the Oceanfront. Enjoy live music (entertainment lineup to be announced soon), delicious food and a variety of vendors at this popular festival that has been entertaining audiences for 15 years. General admission to the event is free. Preferred tickets are on sale.

Beer lovers won’t want to miss the Neptune Festival’s 10th Annual Coastal Craft Beer Festival on Aug. 23 at 31st Street Park. This year’s festival will feature more than 60 beers from 30 breweries. In addition, enjoy live music, food trucks and more. Tickets are on sale now.

While Virginia Beach’s summer event lineup is certainly outstanding, the fun doesn’t slow down as the temperatures start to cool and the kids go back to school. In fact, a couple of the resort city’s largest annual festivals happen in the fall: the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend in September and the Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show in October. Mark these beloved annual festivals, plus a couple more fall events (all listed below) on your calendar.
