2026 Upcoming Events in Virginia Beach

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach plays host to a wide array of events throughout the year, from annual festivals and recurring event series at the Oceanfront to art-focused activities in the ViBe Creative District to performing arts at Town Center. Here you’ll discover a dynamic entertainment scene with something exciting for everybody, and the summer events calendar is packed with spectacular options.

Virginia Beach summers are filled with live music and cultural activities. The Virginia Beach Oceanfront is an entertainment hub and you don’t have to look hard to find all kinds of events—many of which are free—happening on the boardwalk or just steps away, either on the beach or on one of the stage locations nestled between the boardwalk and Atlantic Avenue.

With America marking its milestone 250th anniversary, Virginia Beach’s signature Independence Day event, July 4 Stars & Stripes Celebration, is a can’t-miss this year. Start making plans and come celebrate our great nation in the Resort City. Other key 250th-themed events to mark on your calendar include Sail250® Virginia, June 16-19, and the 2026 NAS Oceana Air Show, Sept. 19-20. More top events coming up at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront include JazzTeenth, June 20, Point Break Music Festival, June 20-21, La Fiesta Virginia Beach, June 26-27, Totally Tribute Music Fest, July 10-11, and Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party, Aug. 28-29.

During summer, Virginia Beach offers a number of free event series. At the Oceanfront, the Oceanfront Concert Series (click here for the schedule), the Neptune Festival Symphony By the Sea Concert Series (click here for the schedule), featuring the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonicity Orchestra, and Live! On Atlantic (click here for the schedule) are all popular events. The Town Center of Virginia Beach also offers free summer concerts at Ynot Wednesdays (click here for the schedule) and Summer Fest (click here for the schedule).

Additional family-friendly events include Chalk the Walk, June 13, and the Beach Blanket Film Festival, July 14-18. These free events a great way to gather the family together and have an affordable (and fun!) outing together. Another fun and free experience, check out the fireworks display at the beach every Sunday night (starting July 12) and Wednesday night (starting July 8).

Catching a show at The Dome, Virginia Beach’s new state-of-the-art indoor/outdoor venue is a must-do for music fans. This reimagined venue has an interesting history and hosts incredible events year-round. Chicago, Wale & Smino and Wilco are just a handful of upcoming performances. Virginia Beach also has a number of remarkable entertainment venues away from its coastline. In the Town Center of Virginia Beach, the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts is a fabulous venue for experiencing a great theater performance, music concert or comedy act. Nearby Zeiders American Dream Theater is a quaint theater also offering a variety of entertaining shows.
