A Coastal Getaway This Fall & Beyond

The ViBe Creative District is full of art, restaurants, markets and more!

Whether you wish to experience a laid-back coastal retreat or an action-packed destination, Virginia Beach is a fabulous decision. Long chats on the beach with friends and family, thrilling outdoor excursions or exhilarating nights on the town—this is your place.

With a convenient Mid-Atlantic region location, Virginia Beach is where you’ll discover clean beaches, a bustling boardwalk lined with excellent restaurants and hotels, and an array of fun attractions and events. With 35 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, Virginia Beach is a haven for outdoor recreation, from surfing and swimming to fishing and boating. Certainly, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront (home of a famous three-mile boardwalk) is a major hub for visitors and locals alike, however, cool coastal vibes are felt throughout the city, whether on the beach or in one the city’s inland sections.

The resort city is full of remarkable restaurants with delicious food and distinctive personalities, and the culinary scene is impressive for any palate. Virginia Beach restaurants serve up some of the freshest seafood available from Lynnhaven Oysters to blue crabs to other fresh catches. The dining atmosphere isn’t bad either. From spectacular water views and rooftop sunsets to cabana-style seating and dog-friendly outdoor patios, the dining experiences here are a welcoming and unique. In addition to unbelievably fresh seafood, farm-to-table has a strong presence in Virginia Beach dining, largely due to the city’s deep agriculture roots, so menus are filled with dish options made from fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Virginia Beach’s local libations are also noteworthy and a pleasant addition to a getaway trip. From popular annual events like Virginia Neptune Festival’s Fall Wine Festival, Sept. 11-12, to special establishments like the historic Cavalier Hotel’s Hunt Room, numerous opportunities await for sipping local and regional wines, beers and spirits.

The ViBe Creative District is at the heart of Virginia Beach’s art scene and home to some of the area’s most beloved outdoor markets. On Saturday mornings (during most of the year), the streets in the ViBe District fill with shoppers supporting local vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, artisan items and much more. Old Beach Farmers Market, Old Beach Art & Eco Market and Singer Songwriter Saturdays are nice additions to any itinerary and a superb way to get a taste of Virginia Beach’s local community. In addition to being a supportive community of small businesses, this delightful community is where to find excellent restaurants and charming cafes. (Note: The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art recently relocated from the ViBe District to a new location at Batten University. The Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show, 9-11, will return to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and this year’s event will be extra special as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.)

With a reputations as one of the East Coast’s top entertainment cities, Virginia Beach features countless performing arts opportunities. Visitors and locals have their pick of incredible venues and performances, from small concert stages at the Oceanfront and in area restaurants to large entertainment facilities like the Sandler Center of Performing Arts.

In every season, there’s always something interesting to experience in the resort city.
