Beach Shops
If you forgot something for your day at the beach, no problem. One block over from the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, Atlantic Avenue is lined with an abundance of stores selling a variety of beach items, from swimwear and beach gear to treats and souvenirs. Browsing these beach shops and looking for special finds to help remember your trip is a fun experience for all ages. Be sure to treat yourself to a tasty snack like ice cream, homemade fudge or a refreshing smoothie.
Outdoor Markets
Family-friendly outdoor markets are a mainstay in Virginia Beach and an excellent opportunity for getting better acquainted with the local community. On Saturday mornings, the ViBe Creative District is where you’ll find local residents strolling along 19th Street. This vibrant artsy district is home to amazing events including regular outdoor markets like the Old Beach Farmers Market and the Old Beach Art & Eco Market on Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. to noon.
The ViBe District is a community with an emphasis on supporting small businesses and shopping local, and an extraordinary spot for uncovering unique creations by local artisans. In addition to shopping experiences, watch for a variety of events that showcase the talented work of local artists. Shopping Communities
Just off of Laskin Road, the Shops at Hilltop offer a premier shopping experience, with an impressive selection of stores from clothing to gift items. Nearby, La Promenade Distinctive Shoppes is also a popular shopping area. Heading inland, Town Center of Virginia Beach is a destination with a wide mix of stores, from upscale boutiques to well-known retailers. It is also a place filled with restaurants and entertainment.

Art Shows and Event Vendors
Don’t be surprised to see the Virginia Beach Boardwalk transformed into a shopping space from time to time. At various events happening throughout the year, the boardwalk fills up with all kinds of vendors selling different types of home décor, artwork, jewelry, clothing and so much more.
For those interested in art vendors, the annual Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show is a must-see. This year’s event, Oct. 9-11, marks the 70th anniversary of this anchor Virginia Beach event.
